Hello Fencers
There was, for reasons as yet unexplained, an Hawaiian theme to last evening's footwork warm-up: probably to do with the heat.
Thanks to Dan - presumably "Danno" for the day - Wilkinson for taking the picture and Rosemary Greenwood for the delicious brownies.
On a more prosaic level, there are shades of Nabonidus in reverse as we are exiled from the Oasis Academy for the sessions of 15th, 18th, 22nd & 25th of August. The site is being refurbished and there is no access to be had to it. Please note: We are still in the Oasis Academy on the 8th and 11th of August.
As a difficulty can be just an opportunity in disguise, we will be having a fencing picnic in the grounds of Kingsweston House, nearby to our normal venue. I'll be there from 7pm. In the event of rain, we shall adjourn to the charming Lamplighters Inn, by the river. I'll keep members posted on the state of the weather on the day.
On the 18th, 22nd & 25th of August we shall be at Newman Hall, in Westbury-On-Trym. We fenced there back in February in a similar emergency. All sessions will run at the normal times.
We shall be back in our usual haunts from the 29th of August.
Kanda Lee kindly shared these images of some our brilliant Saturday coaches in action:
See you soon,
John
