Last Saturday morning youngsters from Bristol's schools fought out the Term 1 Sabre Championship (held over from last term). Thirty fencers, over seven poules, in six age categories were brought from start to finish within two hours. There was some excellent fencing, with controlled footwork and tactical use of the blade and a varying of tactics through thecourse of matches. Meanwhile, our normal complement of epeeists did their Saturday thing under the expert guidance of Jon Mason. On top of it all, Anna Grodent gave the Yrs 3 & 5, who had their matches last week a lesson and made recruits among siblings and parents.
